Today’s Friday Furniture Piece
is our attempt
at a Union Jack Dresser
We picked this piece up at a local thrift shop for only $20.00!
Woot! Woot!
The bottom was in great shape!
The top had some issues.
A couple of the corners were chipped off completely and there were some deep surface scratches.
We removed the top and made another.
We utilized the trim from the old shelves we removed during our master closet renovation.
We trimmed them down and glued them to the front of the new top piece to give it a nice finished look.
After a bit of sanding this is what we got.
Oh, this man of mine!
Such talent!
And so it begins :)
(This picture was taken on an extremely sunny day so the blue is a bit bright)
We started taping.
And painting.
After all that hard work on the new top we decided we did not want to paint it and stained it instead.
We also wanted more of an antique/worn look so we distressed the piece and sprayed a thin coat of stain to darken it up a bit.
I’m Smitten :)
We just finished this up last night.
I snapped these pictures this morning in the garage with horrible lighting in my P.J.’s and hair that was going in every direction but could not wait to get this post up!
O.K. O.K.
I admit it!
I have horrible grammar.
My punctuation is bad.
I tend to ramble.
And I jump around a lot on my posts.
But this little blog is my sanity :)
So without further ado.
Here is the finished piece.
This piece is available for purchase.
