CONFESSION:
I have a fear of writing :/
I have horrible grammar.
Punctuation???
What’s that?
Paragraphs, commas, periods……
ACK!
Most of my comments consist of one or two words
Love It
Beautiful
Gorgeous
or
Great Job
But I do know one thing!
I love what I do!
And I love what you do!
The inspiration I receive from my favorite Blogger’s (listed on the side bar under the heading “Blogs I’m Loving”) and my followers is what motivates me :)
This year I plan to conquer that fear and share more posts :)
With that being said…..
Today I am sharing our desk makeover.
We found this beauty at the Goodwill in Jackson TN.
Made by the Imperial Desk Company.
Evansville, Indiana.
Needs some TLC but this is an awesome piece of SOLID furniture!
And this top!!!
BEAUTIFUL!
Our guess is Walnut?
For the bottom portion of the desk we applied some of this Cabot’s stain we snagged at Dirt Cheap for only .19 cents a can.
As you can see the double file drawer had some damage.
And we also wanted to change the handles to drop pulls so we needed to cover up the previous holes.
So we decided to utilize some of the burled wood we had on hand leftover from our daughter’s vanity.
As seen here
http://furniture-ology.blogspot.com/2013/02/friday-furniture-goodwill-vanity.html
And gave the drawer fronts a brand new look!
We also decided to change up the double file drawer.
We wanted to give it a new look and break it up.
So we trimmed it out to look like two single drawers.
I think we nailed it!

Happy Monday :)

DeleteGood morning Meg! I just wanted to let you know that my post is up featuring your dresser. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend! -Lisa {Practically Perfect Home}
Deleteabsolutely a beautiful piece!!!
ReplyDeleteThe top is one of the most beautiful pieces of wood I've seen. It's so nice that you all took the time to preserve it. Great work.
ReplyDeleteHow did you make the door fronts recessed in order to be able to add the trim?
ReplyDeleteWe used our new Dremel Multi-Max Oscillating Power Tool to shorten the drawer stops at the back of the drawer guides. We cut off a 1/4" to accommodate the 1/4" molding. Really easy and I love this tool!!! :)
DeleteThis desk turned out gorgeous! I have a very similar desk in my garage waiting for a makeover. This might be the motivation I need to tackle it. You guys do some beautiful work!
