$10 Wash Tub

Things just got a little bit busier around here!

We have doubled our booth space and are busy, busy, busy getting more pieces ready!

We enjoy keeping busy and are loving every second of it!

Today I am sharing the story of our $10 wash tub.

We picked this fella up for only $10 at a roadside sale a couple of months back while visiting family and friends in IA/IL.

Apparently it had been used as a parts/tool cleaner and was DISGUSTING!!!

I tried pretty much everything on this baby and could not get it clean!!

I have no idea how he comes up with these ideas???

But Steve a.k.a. MacGyver came up with the genius idea to use some old oil (Mobile 1 10W-30 Synthetic) we had from a previous oil change.

And it worked like a charm!

He also made a top for it out of some of the old Tennessee barn board we had on hand.

He cut the boards and ran them through the planer.

Glued and clamped them together.

And gave it a good sanding.

To keep the top from falling off he cut and attached a couple of boards to the bottom.

And he also applied some of the milk paint that I had leftover from our farmhouse table project.

All that hard work paid off!

It turned out fabulous!

Farmhouse Table and My First Experience With Milk Paint

Cross another project off our list :)

We finished the farmhouse table!

And I finally got to use the milk paint I ordered a few weeks back!

I love it!

The fact that you can mix up just what you need is fantastic!

And clean up was a snap!

The top of the table was slightly warped.

So Steve pulled the legs together using a strap clamp until they were tight and straight up and down and attached some “brackets” he cut out of some scrap wood.

IMG_7086

He also had to move the support/slide and re-drill some new holes because the old ones were stripped out.

After he worked his magic I took over and gave it a light sanding.

And applied my first coat of milk paint.

After painting it I decided to distress it and apply a wax.

What do you think?

IMG_7060

I think I LOVE it!

IMG_7042

And Steve’s brackets worked liked a charm!
