Today I am sharing our filing cabinet flip.
We snagged this guy up at the Goodwill for only $25.
And of course the minute we we got it home we started tearing it apart!
We removed the plaque from the front and shined it up to see what was under all that paint.
The brass hardware is amazing!
We had a heck of a time trying to shine the hardware while it was attached to the cabinet.
And the only way to remove the hardware was from the inside and that was a bit difficult seeing as it was covered!
So we pulled out our handy dandy dremel tool and cut some holes and removed what we could of the hardware.
And a few other odds and ends.
We poured some stripper on the hardware and let it work its magic.
And started sanding it.
And sanded it some more!
And applied some RUST-OLEUM Rust Reformer to the bottom.
And sanded it some more!
We gave the hardware a good cleaning/buffing with our dremel tool.
And picked up some casters at the hardware store and popped them in.
Much easier to push this baby around now!
And started painting it.
Hard to believe that this is the same guy!
It has since taken up residence in our Office :)
This was not an easy project!
But extremely satisfying!!
Happy Tuesday :)
I have one of these in the garage. You've inspired me to clean it up and make it new.
ReplyDeleteDo it! :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Angie! It was hard work! But well worth it! I LOVE IT!
DeleteYou have just succeeded in making me think I need a filing cabinet like this :) lol
ReplyDeleteEarlier today I was just making myself a note that I have to "look into paperwork organization"....this really might just be what I need. Great redo!
I love how it turned out! It has inspired me to get my office/sewing room/craft room painted and decorated! :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI have a very bland looking cabinet in the office. Hmmm...Although right now I wish I had the handles you do! Mine are recessed into the body. Still...and I love the casters.
